tornadoes

we have our first possiblilty of tornadoes this weekend. i've been terrified of them since i was about 5. i had a traumatic experience at the minnesota historical museum in the cities. there is a tornado simulation room and my parents took me in with them. i've went back to it and it's actually not that bad. what happens is you're in this room that looks like a basement with windows by the ceiling and it looked green outside. and they had the creepy voice from the national weather service playing on the radio. and the sirens were going. then it started shaking. and then it was over. anyway, i usually freak out if it gets stormy. so we'll see how this goes...

there is no "i" in team

a team to me is a group of people that are positive and give encouragement to each other. they may have their differences, but they get over them and help each other out. its a group of people who have a common goal. whether it's winning, or just having fun. but usually it's winning. and if they lose, they figure out what they did wrong and learn from their mistakes. a group of people who arent a real team will tend to blame the loss or mistake on one specific person and make them feel left out or rejected. and that's not okay.

lion

yesterday was the show choir competition. it was a really long day. but there were some amazing choirs there. they probably all had huge budgets cuz they had a bunch of costumes and props. and we have a tiny budget. and all the other schools had a TON of school spirit with cheers and chants. it was very obvious that we have no school spirit at all. there was a girl from another school who walked by the tiger downstairs and said "oooo...look! its a lion!"

reputation

reputation can be untrue. someone could pretend to be nice for a little while to a very talkative person and get a reputation of niceness. but they could be evil the rest of the time. there are a lot of reputations out there and i think its easy to get one. but most of them probably arent true.

nothing

i once again have nothing to blog about. i've had a very boring week cuz im not in any spring activities.
today i had a splitting headache. but i took some ibprophen so now im better.
i really have nothing to blog about. seriously. nothing.

springtime

this week has felt like spring. when i woke up this morning i heard thunder for the first time in 5ish months. and i realized i kinda missed it. so today everything was wet from the rain and there was extra mud. i had a lot of fun splashing through the puddles and making squelching noises in the mud. and it really smelled like spring. i cant describe the smell, but i think everyone knows what i'm talking about.

it feels good to be able to walk outside without a coat or shoes.

frosting

cupcakes. yesterday i watched dc cupcakes on tv. and it made me want to own my own cupcake store/shop/bakery. they had really random flavors and interesting frostings with toppings. the frosting looked like the perfect consistency and i wish tv could transport the things on the shows. it would be so nice. and on that episode they baked 10,000 cupcakes to send to troops in iraq. and i wish i had the power to make an impact like that. but maybe i will. someday.

respect

r-e-s-p-e-c-t

that song is in my head whenever i hear the word "respect". i think respect is very important, and i had a point to this post, but now i forgot it. if you dont respect others, then you wont be respected. and i dont think you want to be disrespected. i doubt its any fun.

hiccups

i have absolutely nothing to write about. right now i am absolutely stuffed. and apparently when my stomach cant hold any more food, i hiccup. i finally got them to stop, but im still incredibly full. hiccupping obviously didnt burn enough of my calories.
right now im watching g-force. i just started watching the end of it. so im really confused. theres just a bunch of fire and things blowing up.

blogging

blogging. in class we were taught that if you have your own blog, all of a sudden you're amazing or something. but in reality, maybe 5 people will actually read your blog. and out of the 7 billion people on this earth the percentage of people who read it would be a number with a decimal and then a bajillion zeros and then a one. so i think its kind of a waste of time and i dont like it very much because i dont usually have anything interesting to say on our topics anyway.

pillow heads

yesterday i spent 3 hours at herbergers with laura selling the community day coupon books for choir. except we only sold two which was a total waste of 3 hours in my opinion. its not like we didnt try. but has anyone realized how many people walk in and out of herbergers 5 times in 3 hours? it was ridiculous. that was the only thing i did yesterday. except i had a share the fun practice (a talent show for 4-H) that i had to help out with. our club is doing a skit with dancing pillow heads. its kind of weird but you can look it up on youtube i think.

love

love.
what pops into my mind is valentines day since it was last week. but thats a very cliche version of "love". im not saying its wrong, but its the stuff you hear about all the time. in books and movies--which have the same plot. boy meets girl, fall in love, get in a fight about a misunderstanding, theres two minutes of music with the two people looking very lonely. usually its raining. and then all of a sudden they run into each other and then get married. dont get me wrong. i love happy endings but they start to get really old.

i really dont have anything to blog about at the moment. right now im watching employee of the month with my brother. but i should go to bed cuz im going to the dorian orchestra festival at luther college tomorrow. we're going to be practicing all day tomorrow and monday and then we'll have a concert for anyone who decides to come watch us. and we wont get back til about 11 monday night. tuesday'll be a little rough:)

friendship

didnt we already do a post on friendship? i think it was a long time ago but still...
i have some pretty great friends. they put up with me even when im crabby and tired and cranky. they not only put up with me but they are nice to me. i think friendship is when someone accepts you for who you are, not who you try to be or think you are. and they accept all your faults and quirkiness. and i think being a really good friend is hard. at least sometimes.

loneliness

loneliness....it's not a very good feeling. the worst is when you're in the middle of a crowd of people but you still feel lonely. i dont usually feel lonely. i wish i could help the people who do feel lonely. but if they are lonely in the sense that they are by themselves, i cant really help them because im not with them obviously. im writing this post and watching the super bowl at the same time. today we participated in the souper bowl of caring at church. it's where youth from our church stand at the doors and hold soup kettles and people donate money toward a local food shelf. the hope is that while we have lots of junk food and bug screen tvs to watch the game, other people who dont will at least have some food. and maybe they wont feel like no one cares.

mock trial

yesterday was the lakeville north mock trial tournament. we got on the bus while it was pitch black and studied our directs/openings/closings/crosses ect. using book lights and flashlights. all we really wanted to do was sleep, but we knew we needed to study cuz god know we didnt do that the night before. we finally got to the school and made our way down to the media center. they had all 38 mock trial teams in one media center. we got the back row of books as "our spot". we dashed off to change, only to figure out we didnt know where the bathrooms were. we eventually found them and changed. we got back and found out our rooms. at that point i started to get really nervous. finally, we got to our rooms and our classroom happened to have mobiles hanging off the cieling. it was kind of distracting, but in a good way. it kept my mind off what i had to do. but when it was my turn, i did my witness job pretty dang well. then we had another trial and then we watched varsity in the championship round. then we went home.

intelligence

the importance of intelligence....i think it's pretty important. our world wouldnt be what it is today without some people having intelligence. the amount of it varies though. people who have intelligence may choose not to use it. some people who have it choose to be concieted and arrogant about it. people who have it might not have the resources to put it to the test. say there was a really smart hobo, and he had the mind power to create something amazing, but the opportunity never presented itself. that's the sad part about having intelligence.
then you have the people who dont have it, but they think they do. or they just dont care. im done ranting now.

yig

last thursday i got on a bus at 10 in the morning with a bunch of other people and we went to the minneapolis hilton. we joined 1300 other highschoolers at the 57th minnesota ymca youth in government weekend. we all wrote a bill before the weekend. on thursday and friday we were split into committees and we debated all the bills and weeded out the bad ones. all the bills that passed were debated in their senate/house. if they passed there then they went to the opposite senate/house. then they went to the lieutenant governer to get signed or vetoed. if then were vetoed then on sunday we overrid them. it was a very long weekend. but it was fun. friday night we had a carnival with "karaoke" which was actually just a mosh pit and movies and blow up jumpy things. on saturday night we had the governers ball. it was a lot of late nights and early mornings and jersey shore. so i am going to be completely dead tomorrow.

work ethic

okay...so my sister says work ethic is useless. apparently she knows a way you can pretend to have it. even if you dont. im sure it gets the people who have that far in life. but for those of us who do have work ethic, and i like to think i do, it gets annoying when some people think they can just sit around and do nothing or even worse, complain about how the people who are doing things, do them. im guilty of that sometimes, but usually i try and have good work ethic. im sorry if this post didnt make much sense. im half asleep from a very long weekend.
